What you most like about your job: The people here are fantastic–smart, creative, and upfront with one another; also, most of the projects we have going on right now are directly linked to facets of my life as a Memphian, which means I don’t have to stretch to make the work interesting.
Short-term professional goal: On a daily basis, I want to bring a unique perspective, diligence, and a positive attitude to each project I’m involved in.
Personal goal: Happiness–through positive relationships with myself, my family, and my friends and coworkers.
Something about you that would surprise people: I’ve got a reliable three-point jump shot.
Books read recently: Songs My Mother Taught Me, Just Mercy, The 100 Year-old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared, The Undoing Project, East of Eden
Favorite quote: “Always go to other people’s funerals, otherwise they won’t come to yours.” (Yogi Berra)
Something in your refrigerator right now: Claussen Dill Pickles.
Most important characteristics of a leader: Honesty, social awareness, communication skills, organization.
Your impressions of Memphis: Memphis seems to be a place with a lot of dividing lines; but, within the Venn diagram of socioeconomic, racial, and political pockets, there is a ton of activity. The best things happen at the center of the Venn diagram, where all of the groups of people intersect. The most fun local restaurants, bars, landmarks and events (and there are many to choose from), are the ones with the laid-back, warm atmosphere that makes you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door.
Favorite pastime or hobby: Cooking and sharing delicious food.
If you won the lottery, you would…: Ask my grandmother what to do with the money.
